2 Liverpool – Atletico Madrid 3

As cheesy as it sounds, this means more

Have nothing bad to say about the boys. Fought for all 120 minutes and yes, mistakes do happen in football. And as much as it is easy to blame Adrian for all the bad things that happened this night, let’s just appreciate the team and how much it improved over the years. If someone wants to be a toxic puss, there’s nothing we can do to stop them.

2005/06 Champions League season also ended in the 1/8, and we were in the final the next year.

Sometimes it’s not about winning only. For me it’s about getting invested in the match and getting behind the lads who work their socks off and play amazing football. And they did just that today, and for that I can’t blame them.

Yes, perhaps Adrian’s status in the team is in jeopardy now and he’s definetly not flawless. But attacking the man with vile threats and demands to throw him out of the team is so low. Loris Karius being a below average goalie did not validate all the shit he faced after his blunders, and it is also not ok to think that those attacks are justified because “we signed Alisson and won the cup”.

Basically you don’t have to be a piece of shit to tell a player he did not do well.

From the positives, Bobby finally scored at Anfield, and that was a moment of joy. Gini proved once again that he is an X factor in the big games, popping a header against another Spanish side. Ox shut his critics up with his best performance in the Liverpool shirt so far.

Robbo was very unlucky not to get at least one goal on his birthday. I’m also surprised that there was almost no bookings today… ref was ok in my opinion.

Hendo walked in and showed how much of a difference he can make. Man had an injury, and played for how many minutes? Exactly. Big props to him for stepping up once again.

Mo and Sadio had a little competition in the category the sexiest miss of the game. The bicycle kick (actually two of them) from Mane or that trademark Salah shuffle with a curling shot in the top corner, oh what could have been.

Virg was his usual brilliant self, but had to deal with a little Correa pest. Trent played hard and tried harder, as did Joe. Millie had a 5 minute run out to showcase what he’s all about, throwing himself on the ball like a madman. Takumi, Divock, Fab did not have much time, and there’s that.

We had to go all in and we lost in the casino. A couple of good hauls and KABOOM, you’re out of credits, mister Klopp. You win some you lose some. Who the fuck knows when the next UCL games will be played? As I look at it, let’s wrap up the league as fast as we can and look forward to the future, because it’s still good.

“We go again” is something this club is very familiar with, let’s show Everton who’s boss in a couple of days.
